Forty years ago, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from James Madison University in Virginia with a concentration of painting and drawing. Real estate became her profession by necessity.
When she and her husband visited St Augustine for the second time by boat they decided to make it their home. After living aboard and traveling the intracoastal for four years they put down their roots on Anastasia Island. In 2011 while walking on the beach Nancy found a little art studio under construction and thought, this is the time and place to get involved and hopefully inspired. Since then. most of her time has been dedicated to her garden and volunteer service in her neighborhood and The Art Studio. Nancy’s motivation and inspiration come from a local and internationally known artist, Mary Hubley. After 40 plus years and a few painting classes she had regained her confidence to paint and display again. The series is called “Seeking my style” and will be shown at the Studio in November. This is her attempt to visually describe a place or emotion, but as Claude Monet said, “My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece” Through the The Beach Art Studio and Gallery, she has also been able to teach painting classes for beginners, called Happy Hour Painting with Nancy. |
