Annette Dexter Jones
I grew up in Chicago, and was influenced a great deal by my artistically talented father and a supportive mother. After getting a degree in Art Education from Michigan State, I taught art at the Middle School level. I earned my MA from Ga. State. I moved a lot... Tampa, Jacksonville and now St. Augustine. I believe that Art connects me to life and this marvelous earth of ours...the changing seasons, movement of animals, blooming of flowers, blowing of the wind, sunsets and clouds. Color and texture are the most important elements of art that help me express my feelings. I hope that my art work express the Native American views of a living, pulsating force in our world (a Mother Earth, if you will) and we need to honor and care for her.
I am the volunteer artist for the City of St. Augustine Archaeology Program. I draw (whatever they give me) Native American pots, Spanish and English Ceramic and Glass items and other "finds" from local digs. |
