Hi my name is Jan Beasley, I was 5 years old when I first started painting. My sister Joyce and I, had received a small watercolor paint set for Christmas from our church. We would paint & draw together, and we learned from the same teachers. The teachers that influenced me the most were from elementary school. Edna Stegall, and especially Nancy Williams, both encourage me to paint & draw.
I also learned from watching artist Bill Alexander, Bob Ross, Priscilla Hauser, on television. While always looking to improve my painting skills I’ve taken three & four-day workshop Donna S. Dewberry, Peggy Harris, Jamie Mills-Price, Wilson R. Bickford, Byron Pickering, and instructors at the Art Studio & Gallery, and many others. I’ve painted with watercolor, acrylics, oils, pastel, Color Pencils, in several different styles including decorative painting, folk art, murals, tole painting, and I’ve always painted Christmas ornaments for my family & friends. I enjoy teaching children & senior citizens watercolor & mixed medium classes. I also donate paintings to different charities such as the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, and many others. I was in a terrible accident in 1999, and had to stop painting because of injuries to both of my hands & being paralyzed on the left side, and at the same time I suffered from two bad strokes. It took me 13 years to start painting again. I started back painting landscapes & seascapes with oil paint, I absolutely adored it felt in love with the softness of the colors I could achieve with the oils. Seascapes are my passion, and they help me escape from pain & stress. I really enjoy painting palm fronds, and many other surfaces. I was the featured artist at the St Augustine Art Studio & Gallery, and I won first place in Peoples choice Award, in 12/2017. My art can be found at the Art Studio & Gallery, craft shows, and various placesi in St Augustine area. I’ve a art page on Instagram @artistjanbeasley, Facebook, Tumblr artistjanbeasley, Twitter @Artistjanbeasley, and I’ve started a YouTube channel. |
