Corey Smithson

I am a local, self-taught artist, born in Auckland, New Zealand. After spending over 30 years on the Gold Coast of Australia, I moved to the United States in 2022. My American husband and I am now permanently settled in the beautiful city of St. Augustine. My love for art began in my early years in New Zealand, and while raising my family in Australia, I immersed myself in exploring a wide range of artistic mediums and styles.
Recently, I've been focusing on the vibrant and expressive possibilities of ink, creating colourful, cheerful, and uplifting works. Most of my works incorporate the New Zealand, traditional spiral Maori Koru which resembles new life, growth, strength, peace, harmony and the continuous cycle of life. I find that the natural beauty of Florida is a constant source of inspiration, which I channel into each of my newer creations.
